The Cape Garrison Artillery (CGA) and the Air Defence Artillery (ADA) Formation combined forces to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the CGA and the 70th Anniversary of the founding of the ADA Formation.
The formal guest evening was sponsored by Reutech Radar Systems and the event was held at Kelvin Grove, Cape Town. The CGA is an artillery regiment of the South Africa Army and is part of the South Africa Army Artillery Formation.
As part of the celebrations, the Freedom of Entry parade (the largest and most spectacular Freedom of Entry parade ever held in South African) took place in Cape Town on Saturday, August 8, 2009. Over a thousand members of eight prestigious military units took part in the parade, which was hosted by the City of Cape Town.
